New Paintings! (Well Sort of)

So I have been doing some paintings for my daughter, Layla.  Her room is so white and boring, so I thought I would make the room more interesting.  The bright flower painting is for her room
The other painting is one I did for my painting 2 class at UVU.  It is an abstract painting of band.

These painting are really old.  I want to post them so I can get more art on this blog.  Hopefully I can get some new painting on here soon.
Any requests on what I should paint next?
The first one here is when I was in Alaska.
The third is in Mexico, and the last is an abstract self portrait.

Busy Mom

I just had a baby girl and she is two months.  I have been really busy and haven't been able to create anything yet.  Hopefully in the next few months I will be able to paint again.  I will be taking summer classes and it will be all art classes! So I will have a good excuse to paint.  I don't know what my major is, but for now I am getting my associate of science degree.  Mike, my husband got accepted into the ME at BYU, so I don't know if I can get a bachelors right now.  For now I am going to try to sell my paintings.  I will try to teach myself.

Paintings that I did like two years ago :)

So I plan on going to school for another three years and going to apply for my BFA in illustration!
I took figure drawing from professor Perry Stewart (who is totally amazing!) and I have learned so much!
I have also learned that the previous bachelor degree I was going for (BFA painting and drawing) was all about abstract expressionism...ya know that would be great and I want to do that one day.  Perry Stewart my art professor said one day "You need to learn the rules before you break the rules."  That saying totally changed my major!
I am signed up for Watercolor 1 this Summer! I am so excited to take this class.  I am better at oils than watercolor, but I heard if I learn all about the opposite (watercolor) I will do better in my master medium.
I am taking Rendering the Human Head this fall so hopefully I will do better heads than the one above.
I love these classes! I am loving all that I am learning!

A day in the life....

I know that this is a blog about my art, but i like to keep this blog as a journal also. When i was just reading about vermont it is really crazy i was just there a little over a year ago. It blows my mind how much my life has changed. I am now a student at UVU obviously and I am living in my art professor Sue Parkinson's framing business. My room mate natalie smith and I are living in the upstairs of this framing house. We also have an attic that we turned into a painting studio. It is the most amazing place ever because we have our own space to set up instead of a kitchen table. We are having a hard time with our hot water because i admit our house is very old, but we are getting that fixed along with our own kitchen/bathroom area. I was living at the apartments called Raintree last semester, but this opportunity opened. Nat and I jumped on it! We are going to the same college ward as before in Raintree because it is amazing!

Self Portrait

I wanted this piece to be BIG! so my art professor sold me a canvas that she made. This is the hardest painting I have ever tried to produce. I still feel I am not finished with it, but hey it looks like me so that is a plus!

Vermont

I am currently visiting Vermont and I love it!!! It has been a week so far...and I have a week left! I can't wait for my family...my mom and my sister...to get here! They are catching a plane tonight at 10:00 and they will be here tomorrow morning at ten! I can't wait for them to experience what I have been discovering the past week! so far I haven' t really done much cause I am helping out with my aunt and uncle...Justin and Kim Lund...but so far we've been to New York...not Manhattan unfortunately but lake placid! that was a cool and quaint little stop. I think they had the Olympics there a couple times. I throw some pictures later...they are not as sweet as my sister joce's photos but it will do. my writing is not as good as hers either...sorry hahah but it's a good thing this thing has spell check..;)

On the way here My plane was smoking up a storm...when we were about to take off from Detroit. So we had to get off the plane and stay on the terminal for another few hours...yeah it sucked! but we arrived in Burlington, Stowe at around 6:00. It was a little too dark to enjoy the scenery so the fam and I drove right home. Our 'bugger home' my little cousin Jack calls it...because it is green. the house is soooo cool! again I'll put pictures on to show just how cool it is. The next day I took pictures like crazy and just chilled the whole day...it is nice not to work for a while. I have been trying to paint the view from my house because it is sooo pretty! I'll put it on here if it's good enough...right now it is really bad...I haven't painted landscapes before ahhhhh! But anyway...in a few days I'll be going to Montreal and driving the east coast so I'll update later

Hello!

I saw The Women tonight with my aunt Kim and it was pretty good...I laughed...but I laugh at pretty much anything these days. Meg Ryan looked like a scary duck with all of the plastic surgury she did with her face. What I thought was kind of funny and new was there were no men at all throughout the whole movie...they talked about their husbands and they would call them on the phone but they didn't show any men at all...even the extras. Exept for the end when one of the characters had a baby boy...kind of interesting..I'll never see it again, but I would say it was 3 out of 5 stars. I wouldn't say go right now and see it but maybe put it on your "movies to see" right after Rockstar.

Hey I Finally Have A Blog

I am so not used to this thing...but i thought i would keep an electronic journal since I have a myspace, facebook, two email accounts, and two family blogs. So I thought why not have another blog it is kind of fun! I probably won't write too much at first cause...well I don't really like to write, but i'll get the hang of it i think...maybe I'll put my art on here and have people critic my art. Mainly I will put my many pictures of my traveling and all of that cool stuff!!! I am excited...
